Museum object discrepancy source-analysis dossier
Read the full request
Prepare a critical source-analysis dossier about a fictional museum inventory discrepancy. This is editorial and historical reasoning, not an app or a real criminal investigation. Use only the six supplied fictional sources; do not invent evidence or use the internet. Deliver dossier.md and timeline.csv. No website, UI or server. S1: Inventory signed by Lea at 09:00: object V17 is recorded in the east display case. S2: Building access log: a technician enters the service corridor at 09:12 and exits at 09:18. The log has no exhibit locations or object identifiers. S3: East-zone humidity sensor shows an alert timestamped 09:14. S4: Visitor statement recorded at 10:00: "Around nine, I saw a blue cart near the west gallery." The visitor does not identify any object and says the time is approximate. S5: Calibration sheet at 10:30 establishes that the humidity sensor clock was consistently four minutes fast throughout the morning. Other source clocks have no measured correction. S6: Inventory signed by Omar at 09:25: V17 is absent from the east case. No transport or destination is recorded. Build a timeline that preserves raw source timestamps and separately shows normalized time or uncertainty. Distinguish observations, inference and unresolved questions. Compare at least two compatible hypotheses (for example undocumented internal movement and inventory-record error), with supporting facts, weaknesses and evidence that would discriminate them. Explain which source statements do and do not conflict. Include a claim-to-source matrix and check every factual claim against S1-S6. Do not identify a culprit or treat temporal proximity as causation.
